George Henry Capon

So after looking at my mums birth certificate I found out about George. The little green flags started to wave, I found a marriage entry between George and my Nan for the 2nd quarter (April, May, June) in 1933.

He was born in Lewisham, London, Kent in 1905 his parents were William and Edith Capon. He and my Nan had two daughters together Pam and Barb. I know little else about George until January 14 1943 where I discover that he was killed in Tunisia during in a battle with the axis powers during WWII. He was a member of the 6th Bn. Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment.

On this same day Churchill and Roosevelt's summit Conference opened near Casablanca with General Dwight D. Eisenhower in attendance.

He is buried in the Massicault War Cemetery. Sadly, that's all I know, I'd love to find out more.

One important fact that I did learn from my research was that George, who is named as my mums dad on her birth certificate died in 1943 but my mum was born in 1945? Shock horror! That's not possible unless......... Coming up next, the Linehans!
